Is Secureframe worth it? The cost-vs-capability math for multi-framework teams
Is Secureframe worth it? Honest answer: it depends what the entry plan actually covers. The cost-vs-capability math for teams running 2+ frameworks.
The direct answer: Secureframe is a credible platform, and whether it is "worth it" comes down to a question most buyers ask too late — what does the entry plan actually cover, and what does your real framework roadmap cost once you price it? As of our last check of secureframe.com/pricing (26 October 2026), Secureframe publishes no prices — all three plans (Fundamentals, Complete, Defense) are quote-only — and the entry Fundamentals plan includes one compliance framework, with additional frameworks available as paid add-ons. If you will only ever need SOC 2, that shape can serve you well. If you are a SaaS team heading for SOC 2 plus ISO 27001 — and increasingly an AI-governance framework on top — the per-framework economics are where the "cheaper alternative" question gets its real answer.
A disclosure before anything else: Raize Orion is our product, and it appears below. Every competitor claim here is dated and checked against the vendor’s own public pages, the same rule our head-to-head pages follow — and where we could not verify a number, we have not printed it.
What Secureframe genuinely does well
- A broad framework catalogue with real depth in US-government work — FedRAMP and CMMC 2.0 (the Defense plan is built around CMMC artefacts like the SSP and POA&M) — and AI-governance frameworks on the public list.
- The entry plan is substantive: infrastructure monitoring, evidence collection, risk and policy management, personnel management and a Trust Center are all included at Fundamentals, not held back for upsell.
- ML-assisted security-questionnaire automation and an established auditor-partner network.
If your buyer landscape is US federal or defence supply chain, Secureframe is on a shortlist of platforms that can actually serve you, and nothing below changes that.
The three questions that decide "worth it"
1. How many frameworks will you hold within 24 months?
This is the whole game. One framework at the entry tier is the dominant pattern in this category — and it is not unique to Secureframe. So price your roadmap, not your first certificate: if SOC 2 now, ISO 27001 next year and an AI framework after that is your realistic path, ask every vendor what that full stack costs, in writing. The quoted number for framework one tells you almost nothing about the number for frameworks two and three.
2. Can you budget without a sales call?
Quote-only pricing is near-universal in this market — Secureframe, Vanta and Drata all declined to publish figures as of our checks (Secureframe re-verified 26 Oct 2026; Vanta and Drata per our dated comparison pages). That is a rational enterprise sales motion, but it has a real cost for a Series-A buyer: you cannot put a number in a budget without entering a sales cycle. We publish our Starter price (£350/month) precisely because of this gap — and whoever you buy from, you should walk into the call already knowing at least one real market number.
3. Does the platform collapse the work across frameworks, or repeat it?
Framework count is marketing; cross-mapping is economics. When controls map to one canonical set, a single piece of evidence — one access-review export — satisfies ISO 27001 A.5.17–A.5.18, SOC 2 CC6.1–CC6.3, PCI DSS Requirement 8 and HIPAA §164.312(d) at once, and the second framework costs a fraction of the first. When each framework is a separate module, you are buying the same work several times with a different logo on it. Ask any vendor to show you — live, not on a slide — one evidence item linked across every framework it satisfies.
The cheaper-alternatives landscape, honestly
The candidates buyers actually weigh against Secureframe are Vanta, Drata, Thoropass and us — our full sourced shortlist with each one’s genuine strengths is at /secureframe-alternatives, and the head-to-head is at /vs-secureframe. The compressed version: Vanta brings the largest ecosystem and brand, Drata brings broad frameworks with strong automation, Thoropass bundles the audit itself — and none of the three publishes pricing, so "cheaper" is unknowable until you have quotes in hand. Which is the honest answer to the question in the title: nobody can tell you from the outside whether an unquoted platform is cheaper. What you can compare today is what is published, and what the entry tier covers.
Where Raize Orion sits in that math
- Published entry price: Starter is £350/month, on the public pricing page — and it includes three frameworks of your choice from day one, not one. Growth covers six; Enterprise covers all fifteen.
- One evidence base, cross-mapped: controls map across every framework you run, so evidence collected once counts everywhere it applies — the mechanism, with control codes, is in our multi-framework guide.
- AI governance as a line, not a logo: ISO 42001, the EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF and CBN AI/AML — 221 mapped AI controls across the four catalogues — included on Enterprise, £149/month add-on on Starter and Growth. We state the add-on price plainly because you would find it anyway.
- Auditor portal and Trust Center included at every paid tier; you bring your own auditor, with no lock-in.
And the trade-offs, in the same breath: our own SOC 2 Type II audit is in progress, not issued — we will never claim certified before it is. We are the newer brand in this list by some distance. And we ship 22 native connectors plus a guided-template and generic REST layer, against incumbent catalogues in the hundreds — if your stack lives outside that, test the generic connector against your systems before you buy, not after.
The 60-second version
- Secureframe is worth it when US-gov/defence frameworks or its specific catalogue strengths match your buyer landscape — and when the quote for your full framework roadmap, not just framework one, fits your budget.
- Get every vendor’s all-in number for the frameworks you will hold in 24 months, in writing. Entry-tier framework counts make year-one quotes misleading by default.
- Make cross-mapping a demo requirement: one evidence item, shown linked across frameworks, or the multi-framework price is partly fiction.
- Benchmark against the published numbers that exist. Ours: £350/month for three frameworks, auditor portal and Trust Center included; AI governance +£149/month below Enterprise.
